“Zamami Harbor Boats” by Peggy Burkosky
Here we have the completed oil painting “Zamami Harbor Boats” with it’s final design checks in place. We consider all the design principles: unity, conflict, dominance, balance, repetition, alternation, gradation and harmony. All of these principles affect the elements of design: line, value, color, texture, shape, size, direction.
The oil painting techniques we utilize can have a lot to do with the flair of a finishing touch. The “tool mark” of a palette knife or brush, the squiggle and elegant stroke of a rigger brush – these are personal marks that tie things together. They leave a suggestion of confidence and finality and besides, they’re a lot of fun!
