Form is described with values. If we take a simple approach we can design all the shapes that we are painting and consider how we might paint them. Glazes or wet-in-wet gradations are some of the options, however we want to know ahead of time just how to tackle the value changes. Some painters excel at careful glazes built up, a controlled method. Others enjoy the spontaneity of wet paint that generates washes and gradations as it moves. Watercolor is the only painting medium that keeps moving in the painting process.
We are exploring successful color application, getting the best results from mixing the pigment on the paper rather than in the palette. This creates fresh “broken” and exciting color.
