Harbor Rest – 35″ H x 45″ W – Watercolor by Peggy Burkosky
2015 Ikki Kai National Art Museum, Tokyo Japan
This current submission to the 2015 Ikki Kai National Art Museum in Tokyo Japan is a sceneĀ from Deep Bay British Columbia Canada, one of the many harbors along Vancouver Island’s stunning coastline. Shifting weather patterns continually affect the atmosphere from misty to brilliant, an artist’s treasure box. Having spent a great deal of time at sea with my husband and our commercial fishing vessel and also as a child with my seaman father’s boats, I have the “lure of the sea” within me. When weather changes from fierce to gentle, I know all too well the extremes of physical and mental strains and the relief when all becomes calm.
