I had the thoroughly fun experience of painting in the Grand Prix of Art painting race in Qualicum Beach this summer with the added bonus of winning 2nd place. This quick little plein air watercolor has a fresh, spontaneous feel and reflects the “life” of the event. Being well organized ahead of time really helps plein air painting since all kinds of unexpected things can happen. Sudden gusts of wind can blow your entire easel over, so remembering ahead of time to secure your easel is important. Don’t forget water!
