Summer 2015
has had a number of great highlights including this portrait award. This sketch is typically the kind of work that will be explored in the upcoming Fall 2015 class scheduled at The Old School House Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach British Columbia Canada.

About the work: 28″ H x 24″ W Charcoal on 200 lb Strathmore Drawing Paper – I know that gaze – Kyla is often content to silently observe, taking in the world with her sweet sensitivity. Charcoal is such a rewarding medium to work in, as it can be bold and sensitive as well, and responds in some exciting ways with water to create gorgeous texture. Acetone sprayed into charcoal shavings creates marvelous and unpredictable formations while fusing the charcoal to the surface. You may blend the formations when dry with tissue or tortillon (blending stump) for fine detail.
